First Day of School

So some of you may have already started your school year, where as others may be starting sometime between this week and next. A new school year can create a lot of excitement! Even if you don't really "like" school, you still find this first day to be exhilarating and fun! The new year comes with new clothes, new shoes, new books, new supplies and so on. Here are a few things to keep in mind when starting up your school year!! :)

#1.) Every year our parents buy us enough pens and pencils for the next six years!! Unfortunately...we seem to loose ALL of them by the second week.... I am not sure what it is but pens and pencils literally run from middle and high schoolers making it impossible to take our notes and fill out our tests. Find one place you will always be able to go and stash a few pencils or pens there. Lockers, a certain book bag pocket, or if you have an open up desk you can put them there. Anytime you need a pen or pencil all you have to do is reach in your bag or make a quick stop at your locker and viola you've got something to write with!

#2.) One of the biggest issues for a new school year is the new classrooms, especially if you're starting as a freshman or just going into middle school. Most schools do have a school map or a "guidebook" which you may receive in the mail or at the beginning of the year when first starting. LOOK AT THIS MAP!!! It is very important to memorize and figure out the easiest and quickest ways from class to class. If you don't wanna carry all of your books, make a route that stops by your locker before heading to another class. You're usually only given a short period of time so don't spend it all chatting to your locker neighbor or catching up in the drama. Looking at the map can definitely help you out a bit on your first day.

#3.) Every year I promise myself I will keep up to date on my assignments and quizzes. By the second semester I usually fail at that. One really important thing to do is to write down any assignments you get in a notebook, planner, assignment book and so on. Some schools do provide them but don't worry if your school doesn't! A simple notebook or notepad works just as well.

#4.) Alright, whether you want to admit it or not, getting up for school is one of the hardest things to do. Do not set just one alarm. If you have a cell phone, iPod or another similar device you can set your alarm for a specific time. When I know I need to get up for something important such as to catch the bus, I set about five alarms. You don't have to go that over board but setting more than one, and putting on the snooze, is definitely helpful. (If you decide to put on snooze, don't let snooze be more than ten minutes. Try to set snooze for about five minutes. Even if you push it once or twice, you will get highly annoyed and end up waking up for good!)

(One more note, when setting your alarm, choose your sound carefully. DO NOT choose an alarm because it sounds pretty, soothing, or sweet. Choose something that will annoy you or make you jump when it goes off. Also make sure you're sound is on! That way you hear it when it sets off!!!)

#5.) If you're like me you use a crud ton of notebooks throughout the year. I usually go through one to two notebooks per subject. If you're finding yourself mixing up which notebook is for which subject you can label the cover in any colored sharpie or pen with the title of the class. If you're dying to let out your creative side you can take some brightly colored markers and color the top or bottom corners and you'll be able to remember, "oh bright pink? that's algebra" and so on.

#6.) I just recently found this idea and I absolutely fell in love. If you do a lot of your work at home and you work a specific table or desk but can't seem to keep it very organized, this is a huge hack! You can buy a dish washing rack and turn this into a perfect filing rack. It even has a place for your pencils, pens, and other smaller items you may have.

#7.) I'm almost done folks, I swear! Ever had your phone taken from you in class? It's very easy to get distracted on these devices or suddenly get a phone call or text. If you don't wanna turn it off but want to stay off it, just turn on Airplane mode. You won't get any calls or texts and you won't be able to go online and get distracted.

Now I've got a crazy fun bonus ^-^ We all hear about a million times in math class, "Who knows what Pi is?" Well now you can remember by using the words, "May I Have A Large Container Of Coffee?" Count the letters in each word and there you have Pi!!!

3.1415926!!! :)

I hope some of these fun little hacks can help you out as you start your new school year out great! Good luck and don't forget to just have fun! Make as many memories as you can aaand just be you! This is your time to shine :P
